Our story begins in Peterborough, Ontario in 1980. We had only one location where customers would come to enjoy restaurant-quality Chinese cuisine but in a quick-service setting. The mall concept was born. The success of this first location generated demand throughout the province and soon spread across North America, prompting multiple store expansions over the next nine years.
In 1989, Manchu WOK® thrived under new management which aggressively built the company’s growth momentum, particularly in the United States. Through the ’90s, Manchu WOK® was made more accessible to fans of Asian cuisine by gaining greater exposure in non-traditional markets, such as Universities and Airports. By 2004, the chain made its mark overseas by bringing the Manchu WOK® brand to Guam and Japan.
We are soon approaching our fourth decade in the quick-service restaurant (QSR) business and have been fortunate enough to be recognized as a leader in this business.
